European Spa World - Interactive Map

The European Spa World is a collaboration of 2 countries an 4 areas. Slovenija, Hungary, Styria and Burgenland have a wide palette of offerings from hotels, thermal baths and golfing areas.

The location information and position is feeded by a XML-interface, which is generated dynamically by a CMS-solution.

Schatten auf Berlin - The book

This project was a nice experiment for me. I took my backpack, put some cloth into it and leave Salzburg and Austria for 3 weeks to work in Berlin as a Flash-developer and as a member of the webdeveloper-team. Dropping Knowledge is a NGO, initiated by the well known german ad-director Ralf Schmerberg.

I have done some basic programing for the book(Papervision3D and FlipBook implementation). I am sad about the fact, that this project could not be finished because the time was running out and i have to go back to Salzburg.

SkiData wanted us and our competitor to pitch for a 2min movie for their international exhibitions. We have won the budget and produce a 2min 2D/3D animation movie, which was later composited into real-film-sequences.

The challenge was to produce the entire movie in very short time.

SkiAmadè Nagelcup

Nagelcup is a nice little adaption of a traditional game in the alps. Nearly everyone who visited the alps knows this game. It’s very simple, you have to hit the nails into a big block of wood with a normal hammer. There is only one difficulty, you have to use the copped side of the hammer.

CubCub - 3D Game

CubCub is a 3D-strategy game, designed and developed for PC and XBox 360. It’s completely written in C#/XNA.

The game is still in development and should be released in 2009 on XBox Live Arcade. I like this project very much, because i always love games especially 3D-games. It was like a dream come true as i was asked to join the team for this project.

Mode7 Race Games

There was a time before AS 3.0, Flash 9 and Papervision3D where it was not that easy to produce pseudo-3D-games. Mode7 is an old concept from game console and it was first adapted in Flash by Andrè Michelle and a Flashkit member(forgotten the name of this guy).

The principal of this concept is very easy to understand. Take a 2D-map and slice it into a lot of stripes. Distort and scale the stripes, so that it looks like a 3D-plane on the floor. Sounds easy, yeah? but it is not with Flash 7. There was no native support of image-distortion, so you have to do a workaround with 2 nested movieclips(One to scale, one to rotate). It was a nice approach and i have implemented a Mario-Kart-like-start-camera too.

For the company i have worked at this time, i have realized 3 race games, Seat Automobile, Avon Tires and one for the game-platform Spielzone.at

“Die Eroberer”

“Die Eroberer” is a strategic round-based/realtime multiplayer-online-game. The client is completely produced with Flash 8 and AS 2.0.

This ambitious project was produced as a techdemo for the possibilities of Flash and for testing our own Socket-Server. It was canceled after reaching alpha-status, but it was playable. This is maybe the most complex game i ever build, with a lot of different types of soldiers, landscapes and buildings.

3D Isometric Games

Isometric games are nice approach for a great graphics experience and low-budget-development. All calculations could be reduced to a 2D-problem.

For P.I.C.S. GmbH and their clients(SEAT, Spielzone.at) i have produced several games based on a own written isometric engine (AS 2.0, FP 7+).

I am passionate about the web since the year 2000 and working as a developer/designer since 2002. What i like about this kind of work is to have a absolutely non-routine in your daily workflow and you have to talk and work with many different people from different countries.

I started my carrier at P.I.C.S. GmbH. There i have met some great people and they simply let a 16-year old do what he want to do, programing Flash online-games. Have a look at the Spielzone, there are some games designed and programed by me(Fluxx3D, Robot, Chicky). After this great years i decided to apply for the course Multi-Media-Art at the local “University of Applied Siences Salzburg”. This was in the year 2005 and in the past years i was lucky enough to have a lot of great work to do as a freelancer for local and international clients. I also lecture Flash and Webdesign at the advertising-academy, which is a 2-year diploma-course at the WIFI. Currently i am working as a senior web developer at Freshminds BD.

At the university i am visiting the courses for Communication-Design, 3D-Animation and Gamedesign/Gamedevelopment. In Sept 2009, i hopefully will pass my diploma-exam to become a Master of Arts (FH).

In my free time i am a passionate Snowboarder, which is great because we have a lot of mountains in Austria ;). There is another great hobby which costs a lot of time, but it’s simply great, “Gaming”. I love all kind of games, especially Multi-Player games witch coop-mode(Army of Two, Halo 3) and i am the proud owner of a XBOX 360 and a Nintendo Wii. If there is some time left, i am going to the cinema or going out with friends (I love all kind of Disney/Pixar movies, thank you Frazer).
